Food

If you love food you’ll love Kangaroo Island.

Vogue Entertaining and Travel awarded Kangaroo Island the “Best Food Region” in Australia at the 2007 Vogue Entertaining and Travel Audi Produce Awards and it’s not hard to see why.

Breakfast – Each morning you will enjoy a generous platter of continental breakfast provisions to get your day off to a great start. Please advise if you have any food related allergies or particular dislikes prior to your arrival as breakfast is a set menu each morning and changes daily.

Dining in at Hog Bay Hill - Your meal will be prepared on site by one of the Island’s leading chefs who will not only provide you with a most memorable food experience but will also share with you their local knowledge of the island’s food scene. Enjoy a 3 course set menu including the best of what the island has to offer. Menu’s can be tailored to suit and may even include local abalone, marron, or lobster! Dinners are available upon request and are subject to availability.

When dining out for lunch and evening meals you’ll be reassured to know that some of the islands best Chefs are located in Penneshaw. Enjoy the best takeaway seafood at FISH, great pizza at Isola, delicious dining and handsome views at Sorrento’s, and the wonderful true country pub atmosphere at the Penneshaw Hotel.

We are very passionate about food on Kangaroo Island and will happily assist you in planning your itinerary to include quality food and wine experiences across the region.  Produce available includes sheep’s milk cheese, honey, free range eggs, marron, olive oil, crayfish, King Crabs, King George Whiting and abalone. Some of which can be even be bought direct from the producers themselves.

The island is home to the only pure strain of Ligurian Bees left in the world. As such you must leave all honey and bee related products at home or on the mainland in order to protect this valuable asset.

For more information regarding the island’s food and wine please visit www.goodfoodkangarooisland.com.

Be sure to include as many food destinations in your itinerary as you can!
